Smart Tech Is The New Cool!

How will increased smart technology affect our industry?

Smart technology is a series of interconnected devices that drives efficiency. More than meaning to have the knowledge, SMART is an acronym for Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology. It is an internet of things that collects data to improve and optimize our lives in the workplace.

In the construction industry, there is one significant change that has developed employee performance: wearable smart technology.

For example, smart boots have illumination, a step tracker, fall hazard detection, and GPS tracking. This allows the worker to focus on their job and worry less about the possible danger around them. They could be more expensive than traditional boots, but for a good reason.

In the warehouse, hard hats should be worn as they are one of the most important pieces of equipment. As an extension to a regular hard hat, most smart hats will have fatigue detection, microsleep prevention, and proximity sensing. These features provide support to the worker so they can achieve their goals faster.

Industry members collaborate with the intent to increase productivity. Their goal of minimizing issues within the industry can be achieved, with increased reliance on the internet and smart technology. It has made progress over the past few years and continues to evolve.

Sharing knowledge and innovative ideas will help everyone until a new standard is set.
